About

Featured Artists

The mission of the Recovering Joy Arts and Nature Center is to nurture skills and habits that help people find joy and strengthen their ability to wonder at and about the world. Our program is designed to be especially supportive of those in addiction recovery, children, artists and community members.

Art-making opportunities include indigo dyeing, weaving, needle-felting, hand-shaping clay and a variety of visual arts.  Outdoor sessions include timber-framing, story-telling and musical performances.

Participants are always invited to interact with the farm animals.  Tending plants in the high tunnel and outdoor gardens, star-watching and guided walks offer opportunities for nature immersion.

Our workshops are led by a diverse group of artists—writers, weavers, musicians, and more—who bring their creativity and heart to our community. Rooted in the traditions of Appalachia and beyond, they share their skills to inspire healing and renewal.
