Indigo Dyeing With Sarah Broomfield

At Recovering Joy, artists, crafters, musicians, and writers share their skills and stories, helping participants reconnect with themselves and the natural world. Behind the scenes, our Board of Directors—leaders from diverse backgrounds in the arts, advocacy, and community support—guides our mission, ensuring we continue to create a welcoming space for renewal.

Recently, on March 8, 9, and 15th, we hosted artist Sarah Broomfield for a hands-on workshop in indigo dyeing and spoil clay resist on prayer flags and t-shirts. Participants embraced the slow, meditative process of dyeing with natural indigo, watching as deep blues emerged from the dye vats like small acts of magic. The beautiful photos captured from the workshop tell a story of connection—hands stirring, fabric unfurling, and creativity unfolding in the embrace of nature.

We invite you to meet the incredible artists who lead our workshops and the dedicated individuals who shape our vision. Their stories and talents bring this community to life. Explore our artists here and learn more about our board here.

Sarah will be offering another Indigo Dyeing workshop on May 3, 4 and 10th.
